This is the event shirt for the 2026 California Spring Keiko honoring Rick Hotton Sensei's 50th year of teaching karate. The front graphic includes the iconic California Poppy. The back includes Hotton Sensei's enso along with a quote from Terence McKenna, “If the artists, who are self-selected, cannot find the way, then the way cannot be found.” Both the symbol and the quote are relevant to the threads of deeper meaning to be found in a mindful martial arts practice that extends far beyond the dojo, to one's development as a human and to the wider society.
The shirt is a relaxed women's cut, with subtle shaping at the waist in a lightweight, soft, comfortable fabric. (Unisex shirt available as a separate listing on our site, which is a heavier fabric and classic straight fit.)
